Dr. Yahil-Wax is a dramaturg, writer, translator & expert in multi-cultural theatre.


Among her plays are The Shit Path, about Israeli-Palestinian conflict (nominated for the Mobil Playwriting Competition), & The First Stone, the tragedy of an abused Arab woman. Without Premeditation, her book of poems was published in ’77.


She is an award winning translator of some 50 plays and novels. Recently, she dramaturged at Habimah National Theatre, Naomi Ragen’s Women’s Quorum, still in repertoire for a second season. As dramaturg and literary manager of Gesher Theatre, a bi-lingual Hebrew-Russian company & “One of the more remarkable companies in world drama.” (The Times, London) she translated Stoppard’s Rosencranz & Guildenstern Are Dead, Gorky’s Lower Depths, & co-adapted for the stage Doestoevsky’s The Idiot , Babel’s City: Odessa Stories. Her adaptation of Schiller’s Intrigue & Love developed into an Israeli German project & was invited to the Schiller Festival in Germany. She collaborated with Joshua Sobol on the creation of Village at Gesher. At Haifa Theatre she dramaturged his The Jerusalem Syndrome , and contributed to the creation of the Arab Stage.


Dr. Yahil-Wax’s literary translations include works by Charles Dickens, Carson McCullers, Doris Lessing, Peter Carey, John Le-Carre, Doktorow and many others. Her most recent play translation published is Moliere’s Dom Juan.


Formerly a lecturer in drama (Stanford, UCSC), Artistic Director of the National Theater for the Young, Artistic Director of Haifa Theatre Festival, Dr. Yahil-Wax also lectures at Tel Aviv University’s Porter School of Cultures.

She is a Stanford Ph.D in Drama , and holder of a Tel Aviv University M.A. in English & American Literature.
